WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook down for many users
Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are all well-known apps that are owned by the parent company. Facebook is experiencing outages in a number of regions and appears to be unavailable on both the Web and their respective smartphone applications. Numerous users have reported that the instant messaging platform and social media applications are not functioning properly on their Android, iOS, or web devices.
On October 4, DownDetector reports a sharp increase in the number of cases of WhatsApp not working for people across regions. It is not possible for users to send or receive new messages. On Instagram, users are unable to log in, refresh their feed, or send direct messages (DMs), while on Facebook, users are unable to use Messenger. The issue appears to have impacted people late in the evening, with the outage beginning around 9:15 p.m. IST.
At the time of writing, the servers remained down, and Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram are currently unavailable. Users are urged to use alternative messaging apps such as Signal and Telegram until the apps resume normal operation.
